Founded by Mark Hodgins in 1979, The Eye Opener began on Lyndock Street before moving to 219 Hill Street in the early 1980s, where we remain today. Over the years, the business has grown into a true family operation. Mark’s son Jason and daughter-in-law Kate—both graduates of Georgian College—joined the team, continuing the tradition of hands-on care and in-house expertise. Even Jason’s grandfather and siblings have contributed to the shop over the years, making The Eye Opener a trusted name across generations.
Every frame in our shop is hand-selected, and every lens is crafted in-house. Our full-service lab allows us to create prescription lenses with precision and cosmetic appeal, perform on-site repairs quickly, and adjust frames for comfort and fit. We combine technical skill with a passion for fashion, helping customers find eyewear that suits both their prescription and personal style.
